Sight casting time is now mosquito lagoon november 2011 fishing
Well despite the weather this past weekend the fishing was great with clean water and hungry fish we caught reds and trout using jerk baits and live shrimp . We sight cast during the sunny periods and blind cast during the cloudy times . It is the best fishing I've seen in months time to get out there and catch some fish. Check out the latest pics of what we are catching in shallow water sight casting

Mosuito Lagoon October 7 2011 fishing forcast
Well we have a strong front pushing through New Smyrna and it will bring heavy rains and wind , the big factor is the fishing after the front . The fishing next week will be hot we will have high water and cooler water temps which equal good fishing . I still have several days open and if you want to get some good fishing on the mosquito lagoon give me a call . Reds have been tailing and the artificial bite should be awesome with the grass being blown out from the strong winds .

october 2011 daytona to titusville fishing forcast
The water is higher now and slowly starting to clean up , over the next couple of weeks as the weather cools it should clean up more if past weather patterns hold true . October is the month when everything really starts to turn on in the mosquito lagoon . The mullet run is in full swing which switches just about every other game fish into feeding mode , Reds are starting to school up in small groups of 20-50 fish and starting to cruise the flats feeding and trout will start to be much more aggressive as they are feeding on schools of finger mullet . Top baits of choice in the flats are top water in mullet pattern or bone colored , swim baits as well as jerk baits in white , baby bass or new penny color, live mullet or pin shrimp for sight casting . Now for the near shore guys the tarpon are fallowing the mullet and other bait pods south and are working the bait pods as well as the Kings and the cobia will be following these as well . Look behind the shrimp boats for tarpon and sharks and in the bait pods for cobia , tarpon , Kings and bonita .

mosquito lagoon report 9/24/2011
Well the fishing this week was good with nice trout , reds and flounder caught all using pig fish on the out going tide most in the creeks and channels edges . Finished the week off with some sight casting with a repeat client from Va Jeff and his buddy Justin . Found some nice reds tailing and cruising the grass flats in 1-2 feet of water . The reds are starting to school up in small groups of 20-50 and will increase in size over the next few weeks . Shrimp will switch over to being the bait of choice for sight casting and jerk baits or gulp shrimp for artificial .

However as of now the reds are still schooled up and have been eating , trout bite has been up and down with it being really hot or non existant and we have been catching flounder while casting for trout . Its a great time to be fishing in east central florida the lagoon is hot get it while it last .

may 09 forcast
Well the fishing has been a little up and down for April but May is usually one of my favorite months to fish. We have been catching Reds still schooled up as well as singles laying in the sand holes . They should start to cruise the banks as the water levels have increased due to the spring tides . Cruising fish will hit layed up gulp shrimp , jerk baits and live shrimp or cut mullett . The Trout bite is getting much better In the last few days we have site cast to a 7lb trout and caught 5lbers on top water . With some luck the tarpon should start to move in over the next few weeks . For site casting to large reds up to 40lbs now is the time of year .

Well if Jan. is any indication on how Feb. is going to be sweet because we slayed them best day was 47 reds and slowest was 9 reds . The reds are schooled up in huge groups of up to 400 fish its great to see that many fish in crystal clear water , We have also had the big oversized reds show . They are up to 40 + pounds and have been a little hard to make eat but when they do hold on . Feb. books up fast with the big fish moving in so get your day while you can . Good luck and tight lines

Well the water is coming up and warming with the spring like weather . The schools are starting to move into skinny water and the trout are strating to feed on the edges of bars . Over the next couple of weeks some of the best fishing as far as sight casting should be here . The top water bite is starting to turn on as well as the spoon bite. Us live shrimp or jerk baits as well as gulp 3in shrimp around the schools of reds and top water and jerk baits or spoons on the cloud over cast days to locate fish. Jigs work well on the edges for trout .

The fishing has been great for March with reds schooling up and feeding on live shrimp and gulps . The water is low in the lagoon right now which mean the schools are everywhere . Look for the trout bite to get better and the top water bite to increase over the next few weeks as the mullet start to show up.
